Unloader knee braces work by redistributing pressure away from the affected side of the knee joint. These braces are designed to alleviate pain and provide support for individuals with conditions like osteoarthritis. By applying external forces, unloader knee braces help correct misalignment, reduce friction in the joint, and promote better knee function. Consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice on using unloader knee braces for your specific condition.
An unloading knee brace is different than a normal knee brace/sleeve because it can assist in opening the joint space which re-distributes the weight/force away from the affected area. A normal knee brace does not provide this biomechanical change.
No, it would not stop you from bending your knees. If does feel constricting is usually means the brace is on too tight or not in the right placement.
Some people feel immediate relief. For some the break-in process can take a little longer time to feel the relief. We often find that users are able to do more through out the day because of the benefits the brace offers.
We always troubleshoot and make the necessary adjustments. The warranty varies across each unloading brace company. The bottom line is that we want you to wear the brace because they work! We will do whatever it takes to make sure the experience is good.
Yes, we recommend wearing the brace right on the skin.
No, it will not make the knee weaker.
The brace should be worn at any time you are doing weight-bearing activities. This includes standing, walking, running, or any other physical activity requiring movement. For example we have clients that use it all day and some that use it just to take the dog for a walk.

A medical professional (like your family doctor) can accurately and effectively diagnose osteoarthritis. If you are experiencing chronic knee or hip pain and think it may be due to osteoarthritis, it is best to speak with your doctor as soon as possible. Having X-ray results is also very informative and gives us a better understanding of your knee. Other potential examinations are CT Scans and MRI’s.
